Abstract
318,106. Thorne, R. C. Aug. 27, 1928, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Fixed-chamber apparatus.-Apparatus for delivering measured quantities of lubricating oil or other liquid comprises a measuring chamber 1, a supply pipe 24 controlled by a valve 31, discharge openings 8, 9 controlled by a valve 48, trigger mechanism 41 for actuating the valves and a locking device for preventing discharge until the measuring chamber has been filled. Movement of the trigger 41 opens the valve 3 through the medium of a cam 52. The discharge ports 8 are simultaneously closed through the linkage 46, 47 against the action of a spring 49. As the lower end of the trigger bar 16 is withdrawn from a slot in a sector plate 55 the latter is rotated on account of its toothed engagement with a toothed spring-stressed sleeve 53. Return of the trigger 41 is thus prevented until the fluid lifts the piston 17 against the spring 20 into engagement with the sleeve 53. During its previous movement this has been depressed on account of the engagement of a pin fixed in the tube 5 with a helical slot in the sleeve. On this being lifted by the piston 17 the rotation imparted to the sector 55 brings its slot into alignment with the trigger bar 16. The trigger may then be returned to cause the valve 48 to uncover the discharge ports 8.
