Fixed-chamber apparatus in which a supply pipe 4 fills the chamber 2 to the level A-A of an overflow pipe 6 and from which the amount delivered depends on the depression of a delivery pipe 9, is fitted with a valve which closes the upper end of the supply pipe unless the delivery pipe is raised above the level A-A, an arm on the valve forming a closure for the top of the delivery pipe in its raised position. The lower part of the pipe 9 after passing through a gland in the base 5 works within a well-plate 6 and communicates with the outlet 11 having a valve 12. A rack 13 is connected by a cross-piece 16 to a rod 14 passing by a gland into the well-pipe 10 and attached therein to the pipe 9. On the rack is a lug 20 adjacent to a series of dogs 21 on a rotatable shaft 22. The spindle 32 of the outlet valve 12 has a cam 33 which, during the first part of the movement of the handle 31 and before the valve 12 is opened, actuates a crank 35 to turn the shaft 22 and engage the lug 20 between the dogs 21. In order that the lug 20 may be appropriately placed to permit the delivery valve to be opened, an external pointer 25 corresponding to the quantity required is turned. The rack 13, accompanied by the pipe 9, may then be lowered until the lug 20 strikes a projection 23 on the spindle of the pointer which has been turned. This also leaves the lug in a position to engage between the dogs 21, and permit delivery from the valve 12. A spring-pressed bolt associated with the uppermost pointer 25 locks the delivery pipe and rack in the highest position and must be manually released. The spindle 32 also carries a plate 36 having a lock 40 the bolt off which, when the valve 12 is closed, is in alignment with an opening 37 and the spindle 38 of the drain valve 8. Two locking positions are provided. In the first the bolt engages the opening 37, in the second it pushes back the bolt 38 and opens the drain valve 8. A counter 46 is fitted having its operating member in the path of pins on the rack 13, and a liquid meter may be inserted in the outlet pipe 11.
