Submarine explorations, apparatus for making. -A submarine diving-chamber has its position in relation to its supporting-cable controlled by a pair of propelling-devices disposed on each side of the vessel and capable of angular movement. A submarine diving vessel 1 supported by a cable 5 is provided with two screw propellers 6 mounted in bosses capable of angular movement so that the direction of propeller thrust may be varied. Control is effected by rods 9 having gearing-racks 11 which engage pinions 12 on the gear case 8. These rods may be actuated hydraulically on a cylinder 26 provided with the necessary valve control 29. The propellers are driven from a motor through suitable transmission gearing, which may include belts or chains. In an alternative form the propellers are replaced by jet nozzles which are supplied for fluid from a pump driven by the motor, these nozzles being adjustable as to position in a similar manner to the propellers.
