Abstract

The craft enables objects to be located with great precision on the sea bed. It consists of a central control cabin and on either side of the cabin, two vertical propeller engines, which may be hydraulically operated. The propellers are reversible and opera at variable speeds to move the craft vertically through the water. Horizontal engines are similarly located outside the cabin to control turning and movement in a horizontal plane. A buoyancy chamber allows the weight of the craft to be varied. The craft stands on a support frame to the base of which are attached objects to be handled. The craft may be linked to a surface vessel by a telephone cable.
