Abstract

The boat carries a central table (4) in the deck, which can be rotated mechanically through a slewing ring which is carried in a thrust bearing. Two masts (5) on the table are surrounded by the aerofoil sectioned sail (8). The sail may be hoisted by halyard wires (7). The foil area is controlled by varying the height of the sail. The profile of the sail is maintained constant by means of a former (6) which is hoisted with the sail. The space between the masts inside the sail may be filled with an inflatable bag to maintain the aerofoil shape required.
