Abstract

317,067. Soc. Anon. des Ateliers de Construction et Fonderies da Jeumont, Anciens Etablissements T. Haut. Aug. 10, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 310,952. Drawing.-Relates to a sheet-drawing apparatus, described in the parent Specification, in which the glass sheet is drawn vertically upwards between pairs of opposed rollers, and provision is made for one roller of each pair to yield to irregularities in the glass sheet. According to the invention, the movable roller is journaded in, and suspended by, counterweighted bell-chank levers which permit the roller to yield more readily than do those described in the parent Specification. The bearing bush 1<11>, in which the shaft of the roller is journaled, is secured in the end 1<1> of a lever 1 along which a counterweight P is free to slide. A rod 2, screwed into the end 1', passes through an aperture 6' drilled transversely through a horizontal stub shaft 6 which is bolted to the frame of the machine. The rod also passes through a plate 5 having on its lower face a rib or knife-edge 5<1> which engages a groove 6<11> in the upper surface of the shaft 6. A ball bearing 4 is interposed between the plate 5 and nuts 3 which are screwed on the rod 2. The roller journaled in the bush 1<11> is thus free to swing about the knife-edge 5' and also about the axis of the rod 2. The position of the counterweight P on the lever 1 is adjusted to give the necessary pressure between the rollers.
