Abstract

Rollers, treating; gauges. - The trunnions 7 of the roll 5 to be ground by a disc 30 are placed in bearings 2 and adjusted, so that the roll axis is parallel to the line of grinding disc traverse, by bearing blocks 3 and 4 adjusted by a wedge moved by screws 24. Gauging for adjustment for parallelism is obtained by vertical and horizontal gauges 14 and 23 the brackets of which are slid over bolts 8 and 17 on each trunnion bearing at one end and then are removed and slid over corresponding bolts on the other trunnion bearing to see if the trunnions are aligned properly. If the trunnions are of different diameters they are recessed and allowance made accordingly. The gauge 14 or 23 may be adapted to move by trimming its milled rim which may be graduated for the purpose. Each gauge bracket 9 or 15 rests on aligned bevelled shoulders 11 or 18 on each of the bearings 2.
