316,967. Northrup, E. F. Aug. 7, 1928, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Induction furnaces. - In tempering a charge by heat treatment in an induction furnace followed by quenching the required temperature gradient in the charge is obtained by varying the energy input to the inductor coil. The coil 10 is provided with tappings 13 and the generator and condenser leads are provided with arms 15, 17 respectively. The condenser may be in series with the generator. A number of furnaces may be operated in parallel.
