Abstract

303,222. Imbery, A. Oct. 10, 1927. Resistance furnaces. - A furnace intended primarily for heating the ends of rock drills employs non-metallic heating elements in the form of rods A arranged above and below tubes C which receive the drills. The rods are supported by alloy terminals a in contact with fixed abutments at one end and abutments under the control of springs a<1> at the other end. The tubes are closed at the central portion and fitted with hinged flaps at each end. The supply transformer may be provided with tappings or an induction regulator may be used to enable the voltage on the elements to be increased when they reach the operating temperature. Automatic temperature control means is provided.
