Type-wheel machines for marking laundry articles; roller inking-arrangements.-Paste-like ink is employed in printing laundry marks on linen collars and the like by means of adjustable or changeable types, suitable apparatus comprising a reciprocating roller for transferring pastelike ink from a rotary plate to types on a depressible marking-head. In the machine shown in the Figure, a marking-head comprising adjustable type-wheels r' and a printing-plate s<1> is detachably mounted on a plunger h connected by links j, o to a pedal lever b<2>, the link j being connected also to a lever k and a link j<1> which is carried by a bell-crank e<4>. An inking-roller q is mounted on an arm q<1> connected to the bellcrank and is provided with a roller g<2> engaging a guide g<3>, engagement being maintained by a spring m<1>. A disc g, to the under side of which a paste-like ink is applied, is secured to a shaft g<1> provided with a ratchet wheel g<2> co-operating with a pawl k<1> on the lever k. The article is placed on a table f and on depression of the pedal the marking-head is depressed for impression and the inking-roller after rolling over the types is depressed and then permitted to take ink from the disc g, step-feed being imparted by the pawl to the disc. Impression is adjusted by means of an adjustable stop n in the path of the link j. The link o is connected to a returning spring p. A bracket c supports a roller for applying ink to the disc.
