[Class 106 (i).] Printing distinguishing marks; printing totals.-In the parent Specification the automatic group-card control means, which detects the group change and initiates totalprinting on the usual continuous record sheet (or a series of separate sheets), also controls the printing from auxiliary printing mechanism (stencils) on to the record sheet of additional matter (customer's name) to identify each group. According to the present invention, the auxiliary printing mechanism also prints against each group of items on the record sheet, from a single device (an electroplate 180), matter which is common to all the groups (e.g. name of the firm using the machine). Shaft 41 is driven only during total-printing cycles and makes one revolution for each such cycle. Shaft 122 is driven from the listing shaft of the machine. These two shafts drive mechanism for printing the matter 25 which identifies each group, from stencils as in the parent Specification. At a card group change the total " 1402 " and the name 25 are printed ; also the matter in the top four lines of Fig. 2 (except name 25) is printed from an electroplate 180 under control of shaft 41 by the following mechanism. The record sheet 20 passes over rollers 175, 176 and is tensioned and fed by rollers 177. The electroplate 180 is carried by a frame 178 attached to a shaft 179 which is actuated by links 193, 194 and a cam on shaft 41. This plate 180 is inked by a roller 181 which rolls over the face of the plate and over an inking disc 185a which is intermittently rotated by ratchet and pawl 213, 214 from shaft 184. The roller 181 is drawn down by springs 182 on to the electroplate and is mounted in a frame 183 on the shaft 184 which is rocked by linkage 187, 189 and a cam on shaft 41. With shaft 41 rotating, roller 181 is moved up on to disc 185a, thus inking the plate 180 ; the latter is then swung against the sheet 20 and a cam-actuated link 202 depresses hooks 201 to hold the plate frame 178 in position. Cam-operated linkage 208, 207 then rolls a pressure roller 199 over sheet 20 to effect the impression. Subsequently, hooks 201 release the plate 180 ; the latter is restored by a spring 196 ; and inking roller 181 moves down from disc 185a to the position shown. Record sheet, severing.-After the group total " 1402 " has been printed, the record sheet is fed a variable amount according to the number of items in the group so that the first item entered on the record sheet 20 for a new group is always a predetermined distance from the first entry of the previous group. After the printing of the common matter, as described above, the rollers 177 feed the sheet and severing is effected by a fixed blade 216 co-operating with a moving blade 217, which is carried in a plate 225 which is moved to the left against a spring 218 by linkage 223, 221, 220, and 219 operated by the shaft 179.
