Metals, pickling; electrodes.-In a process for cleaning silverware by a self-exciting electrolytic process set up by contact of the goods with an electropositive metal such as zinc or aluminium, the latter is made in the form of a corrugated plate which rests on the bottom of an earthenware or porcelain-enamelled vessel and on which the goods are placed. The electrolyte consists of a hot solution of carbonate of soda or of a mixture of equal parts of table salt and bicarbonate of soda.
