Abstract

Vehicle windows balanced by springs.-A vehicle window and a balancing device therefor are formed as a unit structure adapted to be mounted in vehicle doors or in panels of ordinary construction. The balancing device may be a spring-controlled drum 6 carried in brackets 7 on the sash 5 and a cord 8 looped around studs 9 on the garnish rail. A pair of prongs 10 may be provided on the sash 5 to hold the cord 8 during transport. The window may be held in any position by a suitable holder such as spring- pressed bolts 11 adapted to be released from apertures in the frame by handles 15 having a pinion 14 engaging a rack formed on the bolt stem 11, or a detachable key 15<1> may be provided for actuating the pinion 14.
