316,337. Evans, W. E., (Vaprog Patent-Verwertungsges, zur Verwertung von Vacuum- Propeller-Erfindungen). April 23, 1928. Windscreens. - For the purpose of reducing resistance of a body moving in a fluid by producing a vacuum ahead it is fitted with a rotary propeller which comprises a conical, parabolic, or stream-line shaped hood provided with stepped shoulders forming pockets which are open in a direction opposite to the normal direction of rotation. The hood may in addition be fitted with propeller blades. Attached to the thin walls 2 of a metal propeller 1, Figs. 1, 2, and 3 are plates 3 forming suction pockets opening tangentially and helically. The propeller is driven by a shaft 2' or may be freely mounted. On 'trains 6 it is placed as a nosing on the fore .carriage. Fig. 8.
