Couplings, disconnectible; joints with packing operated by fluid pressure.-Two pipes b, c, carrying end-pieces a, k respectively are coupled by two oppositely-disposed clamping members e, c which are pivotally mounted on pins d on the end-piece a and are provided with inwardlydirected lugs h adapted to engage a flange i on the end-piece k, while fluidtightness is secured by a rubber sleeve l, which is carried by one of the parts a, k and projects into, the other part and is subjected to the internal fluid pressure. The clamps are retained in the closed position by a spring f, which projects through openings g therein, and are provided with handles m in the form of extensions for opening same, while the lugs h are preferably formed with inclined faces to facilitate engagement with the flange i. In the case of large couplings, Fig. 6, opening of the clamp is effected by a tool a, as shown, shaped to engage a space o formed between the parts e, e and adapted to be turned therein.
