Abstract
297,173. Drewry, J. S., and Shelvoke & Drewry, Ltd. July 7, 1927. Swivelling cup-leather joints.-In a pipe line for fluids comprising a series of short rigid pipes A connected together by union members D, the union members are each provided with two bores at right angles and in different planes to receive right-angled apertured extensions B on the ends of the pipes. The bores are in communication by means of an aperture E, while fluid-tightness between the said extensions B and the union member is secured by a U-shaped leather &c. packing ring F. The extensions B are retained in position by nuts C adapted to bear against a thrust plate H and positioning ring J, while a fabric packing ring K may be interposed between the packing ring F and the said thrust plate or the latter may be shaped to coact with the ring F.
