Abstract

Delivery, stopping. - In ring spinning, doubling, twisting, and like frames wherein the intact yarn supports a pivoted device which, when released upon breakage, cuts or grips the yarn between the supply and the delivery rollers, the device A, formed wholly or in part of wire, is M-shaped with a taper slot N, Fig. 7, to engage and hold the yarn upon breakage, and is mounted so as to be supported by the yarn as it passes over the top roller or from the nip of the rollers to the spindle. When formed wholly of wire, eyes, H, J, Fig. 7, are formed so that it pivots about a rod B, or a crank 8, Fig. 5, is formed so that it pivots about the cap bar C. When formed partly of wire, it is carried by a U-shaped bracket 2, Fig. 9, mounted on the rod B. When the machine is stopped and the tension in the yarns is relaxed, the devices may be held in inoperative position or the slack yarn withheld therefrom by means of a tensioned wire V carried bv levers W on the rod B which is provided with an antifriction bearing to take the thrust of the tensioning-means of the wire and of the rod, or in the arrangement shown in Fig. 9 the devices are upheld by means of stops 6 on collars 5 secured to the rod B which also serve to limit the normal movements of the devices. The yarn may be released from the slot N for piecing by squeezing the legs F, G, a bend L<1> facilitating the operation.
