ANTIBALLOON DEVICE.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH Aucnsrn ROUGE, a citizen of the French Republic and a resident of St. Etienne-les-ldemiremont, Vosges, France, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Antiballoon Devices, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention has for its object 10 to provide an improved swinging thread bulging preventing device which is applicable to ring spinning devices used for spinning'or twisting textile or similar materials.
A further object of my invention is to 16 provide a device of the kind mentioned which permits of less heavy runners being used, enablesto spin on spindles of smaller diameter than heretofore, to reduce the tension'or drag on the thread and thus in- 20 crease production.
In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated by way of example one form of construction of my invention. In these drawings Fig. 1 is a sectional elevation showing a spindle provided with my thread bulging preventing device supported on. the ring carrying slide.
Fig. 2 is a similar view showing a con- 3 struction having an additional special support for the thread bulging preventing device, this arrangement being applicable in devices in which the ring carrying slide is not sufficiently wide.
Fig. 3 is a top plan view of Fig. 2, the spindle rotating to the right hand.

Fig. 5 is a plan view of a modified form 40 of support.
In ring spinning or twisting devices the thread from the drawing rollers passes through a guide-ring K, then into a runner T and the end thereof is fastened to the cop P which is to be built on the spindle B.
The spindle B and therefore the cop P having a very quick rotary movement, the thread causes the runner T to move on the ring M at a rate of speed nearly equal to that of the spindle. This variable speed (about 11,000 revolutions per minute) produces its action of centrifugal force on the thread and runner, whereby the thread is caused to bulge as shown in A between the u guide-ring K and, runner T.-
This bulging is prejudicial and does not permit of the desired grade of textile thread being produced.
The device forming the subject matter of my present invention is particularly con ceived to annul the prejudicial force oflthe bulging by making it eccentric with relation to the axis of the spindle.
The characteristic feature of my invention resides in the arrangement of a rigid wire or the like F in the path of the bulging in order to annihilate thesame, said wire F being of suitable diameter and shape and inclined with relation to the horizontal plane of the ring.
In the construction shown-in Fig. 1, said rigid wire F is supported and guided on its ends S, extending into oval holes 0 in the ring carrying slide N. Therefore during its alternate raising and lowering move-' ments, said wire will moreover be carried away by said slide.
On the other hand said wire is allowed to swing in the oval holes 0 and thus move away from the spindle under a very slight pressure, in order to allow the usual working of the device, then come back aut0mat i'cally by its own weight or gravity to the operative position.
In device-s in which the ring carrying slide is not of sufiicient width, I use an additional support H screwed onto said slide. Such an arrangement is shown in elevation in Fig. 2 and in top plan view in Figs. 3 and 4. Said support or bracket II is formed of a yoke shaped member, around the cross bar of which is wound the end of the wire F forming the thread bulging preventing device. In this arrangement the wire F is adapted to freely swing around the cross bar of said yoke H. Two stops R and R are provided to limit the swinging movements of the device in either direction.
An alternative form of bracket H is shown in Fig. 5, wherein said bracket has loops V forming substitutes for the oval holes 0 in the ring carrying slide N (Fig. 1). In this construction the anti-bulging device is adapted to swing in said loops or eyes V.
In either form of construction described, that is whether the anti-bulging device is adapted to freely swing in oval holes in the slide, or in loops or eyes or around a shaft or.bar,'said device will always be held or brought back to its operative position F by 5thread. I V V I Having now fully described .my said in gravity. Under a slight pressure due to the bulging, said device will be brought to the unstable position F to clear the vertical stroke of the ring. Around said position F 7 the anti-bulging device owing to its extreme movableness is subject to small swinging vmovements which act to regularize the ten sion of the bulging with great elasticity. In this way I obtain a textile thread which 10 is more-regularthan thread spun without myimproved device.
