Abstract

315,480. Scott, W., and Marjoribanks, B. Nov. 7, 1928. Bottles and drinking-vessels, cleaning.- A device for cleaning tumblers, bottles, &c., comprises a washing chamber 1 into which a tumbler or other vessel is inserted bv hand to depress a rod 15 whereby a valve is opened to permit liquid to drive the vanes 3 of a water wheel and impart rotary motion to brushes 13, 14, or other cleaning elements s carried by a tube 9 which provides an outlet for the water utilized to drive the water wheel. The upper part of the chamber 1 is separated by a partition from the bottom part 2 which contains the water wheel and is adapted to be put into communication with a source of water supply. Depression of the rod 15, against the action of a spring 18, removes a valve member 6 from its seating, allowing liquid to flow through the tube 9. In a modification the valve member is secured to the rod 15 and is provided with a downwardly projecting stem which is guided in a recessed member and is surrounded by a spring tending to keep the valve closed.
