Sliding-valves; seats.- A valve for pneumatic installations comprises a two-part unit b, c, a slide valve a between them, and soft - metal seating-rings d, e in the pipe - end faces, and means, such as springs g on the bolts f, for holding the rings d, c in yielding contact with the valve faces. One or both the rings may be backed by springs in the grooves to cause the aforesaid yielding engagement. A flexible length of tube k may be used to allow the self-adjustment of the pipe section b, or a length of piping with a longitudinal tongue and groove joint may be used. Alternatively, the valve slide may be built up of two plates, with interposed springs to press them outwardly into contact with the seating-rings.
