Abstract

315,468. Willans, K. W. Nov. 12, 1928. Sectional boilers.-A unit of sectional boiler consists of vertical side members 2, 3 and horizontal tubes 4 expanded in holes in the upper part of the side members. The top and bottom of the side members are connected respectively to the sections of a steam drum 8 and of water collectors 2<c>, which may be connected together by a pipe 9. The side members may be made of rectangular steel bars bored longitudinally, and they may be so shaped and connected together as to form a steam drum at the top and a water drum at the bottom. The upper cross tube of a section may be divided and connected to the steam drum by aT-piece.
