Abstract
314,892. Duluc, P., and Roquebert, L. July 4, 1928, [Convention date]. Clutches, ratchet.-The pawls 4 of a springless ratchet clutch for bicycle free-wheels &c. are pivoted at 5 on a driven hub-member 2, their outer faces having convex portions 6, 8 separated by concave portions 7 to coact with ratchet teeth 3 on the driving-sprocket &c. 1 in such manner that, during overrunning, the pawls are oscillated by the teeth and are always ready to engage as soon as the direction of relative motion reverses. The pawls are substantially of the same length as the tooth pitch, and may be carried by a driving-member. The pawls may replace the spring-pressed pawls of existing clutches. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states also that the pawls may be mounted on the outer member of the clutch. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
