Abstract

178,699. Bellia, P. G. March 29, 1921. Ratchet clutches.-In free-wheel clutch hubs, two pawls 5 are pressed alternatively into driving-engagement with teeth 3 by a curved spring 6 secured at each end to one pawl and lying in a recess in the side plate of the apparatus. The teeth may be on the inner member and the pawls on the outer member, in which case the spring presses the pawls towards the clutch axis.
