A free-wheel clutch comprises sprags C disposed between driving and driven races A, B, each sprag having ec- ,centric end portions C<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>2</SP> coacting with the races and one straight sid C<SP>3</SP> while the other 'side has oppositely-inclined portions C', C<SP>5</SP>. connected by a rounded portion C<SP>6</SP>, a helical or other energising spring D being interposed between one or more pairs of sprags.
