Abstract

Motors and radiators, mounting.-In an elastic joint for pivotally-connected members comprising a number of rings of indiarubber or like elastic material which adhere to the respective parts of the hinge or joint. the socket members are connected together so as to rotate in unison, either by mounting and securing them upon the assembling pin or preferably by the interengaging of the socket members. As applied to a door hinge the rings or linings of indiarubber 5, 5' are caused to adhere to the inner surface of the hinge sockets 1, 2, and to. the outersurface of internal socket members 4, 4<1> by vulcanization or surface binding, or by strong compression of the material. A washer 6 may be interposed between the parts. The sockets 4, 4<1> are caused to move together by interengaging teeth 7, as shown in Fig. 1, when the parts are assembled by a pin 3 provided with a nut 8, or the engaging ends of the members. 4, 4<1> may be caused to move together when the nut 8 is tightened up sufficiently on the assembling pin. This movement in unison may also be obtained by using a non-circular assembling-pin 3. The elastic linings may be so assembled that the hinge will tend automatically to open or close. The application to the suspension of engines and radiators upon motor vehicle frames is referred to.
