Abstract
597,239. Resilient mountings; suspension of road vehicle bodies on underframes. BRUSH ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and RAYER, F. H. March 30, 1945, No. 8097. [Classes 108 (ii) and 108 (iii)] In a resilient mounting comprising two cooperating tapered members, one, 2, being within the other 1, and each being attached to the respective part of the parts to be connected and having a resilient medium 3 interposed and bonded there-between so as to be placed under shear and compression, resilient stops 3a, 3b are provided for limiting relative movement of the members. In the construction shown as applied to the mounting of a vehicle body on a chassis frame, the outer member 1 is provided with flanges by which it may be bolted to the chassis member 7, the inner member 2 being secured to the body 9. The resilient medium 3 is extended to form an upper stop 3a on a flange 4 of the member 2 and a lower stop 3b on the lower end portion of the member 1 which co-operates with projections 5 on the member 1.
