Abstract
313,896. Negithon, P. L. March 16, 1928. Spring suspensions; lateral canting, preventing. -Spring suspensions for vehicles comprise longitudinal guide members capable of oscillating about cross bolts secured to a casing forming part of or secured to the chassis members, the guide members carrying the wheel axles and having helical compression springs disposed between them and the casing which encloses the springs and the cross bolt. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the casing comprises two parts, the top part 2 and the lower part 9 being secured together and to the chassis 1. The casing is provided with a longitudinal guide member 4 capable of oscillating about a cross bolt 5. The axle 6 is carried by the guide member 4 and springs 13, 15 are arranged between the member 4 and the parts 2, 9 respectively. The member 4 is guided in the casing by a pin 11 and slot 12. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 5 the casing comprises a part 2 while the guide member 4a pivoted thereto by the cross bolt 5 springs being arranged as shown and the axle 6 being carried by the guide member 4a. Leaf springs 16, Fig. 3, are provided to prevent overturning if the wheel comes off.
