786.463. Spring suspensions; axle arrangements: guiding vehicle axle-movement. FUCHS, R. E. [trading as FUCHS. P. ENSTE NAXOSCHMIRGELFABRIK DEUTSCHLANDS]. Nov. 18, 1955 [Nov. 29, 1954], No. 33091/55. Class 108(2) Relates to an independent rear wheel suspension for motor vehicles wherein a selfsupporting stub .axle 6 is attached to a spring bearing housing 5 which is guided so as to be able to move up and down on vertical guide rods. According to the invention, two guide rods 3, 4 are non- rotatably connected at the top and bottom to a retaining means 1 connected directly to the vehicle chassis and the springing of the bearing housing 5 is interposed independently of the guide rods between the retaining means 1 and the bearing housing and the bearing housing is guided on the guide rods by ball bearing means in the bearing housing. As shown the guide rods 3, 4 and a lining within the housing 5 are provided with grooves 8 which serve as tracks for the ball bearings retained within the housing 5 by end caps 9. The housing may be sprung against the retaining means by torsion bars, leaf, coil or rubber springs.
