Abstract

1497962 Strut-type suspensions GENERAL MOTORS CORP 22 Jan 1976 [19 Feb 1975] 02466/76 Heading B7D In a strut-type suspension comprising a stub axle 12 rigidly connected to the housing 16 of a telescopic damper 15, and a transverse suspension arm 14, the piston-rod 17 of the damper 15 is connected to the superstructure 10 of a vehicle by a bell-shaped intermediate member 22 and an annular resilient member 28 which is located below the upper end of the damper to reduce transverse forces acting between the housing 16 and the piston-rod 17 and piston 33. A helical spring may be disposed around the damper or torsion bar springs may be provided.
