Stud-boxes and like devices. - A device for screwing up the nipples of wire spoke wheels comprises a spindle a having at one end an aperture e tapped to screw on the end of a spoke and surrounded by a ring of ratchet teeth f or otherwise formed so as to engage and rotate the nipple. The end of the spindle is recessed to fit the head of the nipple, the depth of the recess being preferably such as to ensure a good grip by the teeth. A hole b is provided for a tommy bar and the upper reduced end of the spindle is stepped at h and provided with a V- notch j for engagement by a rotating device. In operation, the wheel is assembled with the spokes projecting slightly through the nipples, the hub and rim are positioned correctly and the spindle a is then applied to each spoke in turn to screw up the nipples.
