Abstract

310,949. Blumenfeld, J., (Assignee of Verein f³r Chemische und Metallurgische Produktion). May 5, 1028, [Convention date]. Titanic hydroxide.-The hydrolysis, under heat, of titanium salt solutions is assisted by the addition of a small amount of a nucleus liquor containing nuclei of titanic hydroxide which are still capable of being dispersed wholly or partially by dispersing agents into a condition of apparently homogeneous solution. The nucleus liquor may be obtained by hydrolysing a titanium salt of low acidity under heat, and subsequent cooling stabilizes the nuclei produced. For instance, a portion of the main solution may be added to an alkali until the acid concentration of the liquor has a pH value of 2-7 or preferably 4-4.5, hydrolysis be effected at 70-80‹ C. for say 15-30 mins., and stabilization be then obtained by rapid cooling to below 60‹ C.
