Abstract

310,642. Roberts, T. April 17, 1928. Bottling.-Liquid is supplied to bottles by suction and by gravity. In Fig. 11 a tank 5 supplies liquid to a bottle B by a pipe 7a. The nozzles 6 makes a tight joint with the bottle neck and has a concentric chamber leading to pipes 8, 9b overflow chamber 9, pipe 10, a container 11 filled withe cotton fibre &c. for abstracting moisture, and a suction pump A. In use, the bottle is placed upon a platform 15 urged by a spring 15d. A footlever 17 is depressed to raise a frame 2b which lifts the bottle and causes a rod 50 to operate a sliding valve 10 to open the suction circuit. The rod 50 also raises a lever 51 to open a valve 52 controlling the liquid supply pipe. In the vessel 9 or in the vessel 90 a float valve breaks the suction when the vessel is full. In filling by gravity alone the tank 5 is supported on the platform 3. For suction feed a platform 4 supports the tank.
