Abstract
310,588. Warburton, W. Feb. 13, 1928. Self-driving machines. - In a self-driving machine comprising a cylinder D adapted to house a piston E which is connected to a crank B by piston and connecting rods e c<1> respectively, the piston is actuated by a compression spring E<1> which is positioned therebetween and a partition D<1> formed in the said cylinder. The spring E<1> is compressed and released by a cam disc G mounted on the crank shaft through the medium of a shaft H<1> mounted on the cylinder. this shaft being provided with a lever H having a pulley G<1> at its free end to engage the cam G and a pair of levers H<2>, H<3> connected to a disc F<2> interposed between the end of the spring and the piston. The engine is started by a handle N<1> which operates a chain wheel N on the crankshaft, while means are provided for retaining the spring in its compressed condition during on or more revolutions of the crank.
