Producers. - In producers working under pressure, the internal retort or charging cylinder is surrounded by an insertion of less diameter than that of the combustion chamber, whereby the fuel column assumes the form of a doublystepped solid of revolution. The charging cylinder 2 is surrounded by a second cylinder 3 depending from the cover plate 1, and the gas outlet 4 is connected with the upper part of the cylinder 3. Two conical inclinations II, III are thereby formed in the fuel, and the escaping gas is comparatively free from dust. In a modification, the cylinder 3 is replaced by a projecting annulus of firebrick.
