Electric operation and control.-In electric operation of railway points, an intermediate member, arranged inside the motor casing. and between the motor and the point rod, effects the movement of locking mechanism after the positioning movement has terminated. The intermediate member consists either of a balancing lever connected at one end to the point rod and at the other end to the lock, or of a differential or planetary gear. In the latter case, Fig. 7, the motor is geared to a wheel T<5> in mesh with planet wheels T<2>, T<3> and crown wheel housing G<1>. The wheels T<2>, T<3> are carried by a swinging support T<1> having a striker T<7> with faces T<10>, T<11> which engage abutments K<1>, K<2>. The support T<1> is clutched to a wheel T<8>, Fig. 3, engaging a rack N<1> on the point rod N. The housing G<1> is provided with cams G<3> engaging contact arms D, and with a cam projection G<4> which engages behind bolts N<3> on the rod N where one of the faces T<10>, T<11> has engaged its abutment to prevent further movement of the support T<1> and rod N. A slip coupling may be_provided in the rod N and consists of a spring-pressed ball A<2>, Fig. 2, carried by a. rod W from the points, and engaging a recess A<1> in the motor rod N.
