[Class 44] In order to give a long throw to the bolt D of a lock, the key, inserted in hole F, operates a slider B moving parallel to the bolt, and locked in each of its two positions by pivoted levers E, E<1>, E<2> of ordinary type. Movement is communicated from slider to bolt by a lever C pivoted at one end a to the casing, and connected to the bolt by pin and slot d at its other end. The slider makes pin and slot connection b<1> with the lever at a point which may be nearer to the pivot a than to connection d, so that the movement of the bolt is more than double that of the slider. Lever C is cranked at c<1> to lie behind slider B and in front of bolt D.
