Abstract

Latches, sliding.-A spring shot latch bolt which is retracted by a pivoted lever acted upon by the follower has two coil springs of phosphor bronze to ensure smooth return of the parts to normal position, one acting directly on the latch bolt and coiled round the shank of the bolt, and one acting between an arm of the lever and a stop on the casing. The bolt-withdrawing lever D is pivoted at D‹ and has a slot D' through which passes the shank C of the latch bolt B. The shank is provided with a collar C<1> behind the slot D<1>. The lever D has a free arm G with a stud G<1> which engages a coil spring H, the other end of which abuts on a fixed stop I of channelshape secured to the casing. A second spring E is coiled round the bolt shank C and abuts at one end on the fixed stop F' and at the other on a collar C<2> on the shank.
