307,625. Browne, E. H. S., and Sargint, A., M. March 5, 1928. Plastic compositions containing soluble silicates.- In a composition comprising a watersoluble zinc salt, a water-soluble silicate and a siliceous filling material, suitabre for use as a putty or for the superficial treatment of surfaces, glass in a finely-divided form is used as the filler. An example comprises 10 lbs. of powdered glass, 13.6 oz. of zinc sulphate and sufficient potassium silicate of 58‹ Tw. to produce an easily-worked mass. The composition, after setting, may be further hardened by treating it with a solution of calcium chloride. The use of zinc chloride as the zinc salt is also mentioned, but is undesirable. as is the use of calcium chloride, in an acidresisting composition.
