Abstract

307,541. British United Shoe Machinery Co., Ltd., and Brown, J. K. Dec. 10, 1927. Stationary-cutter machines.-In a machine for trimming fins from the edges of rubber soles &c. a driven fixed shaft 10 carries a cutter 14 cooperating with a cutter 16 on a geared shaft 22 carried in a bracket 18 pivoted on a shaft 20. The bracket is raised against spring pressure from a treadle to separate the cutters,. and is positioned for cutting by a stop 30 so that cooperating narrow peripheral faces on the cutters almost contact. The cutters are aligned by freeing the bracket 18, held by a screw 42, and screwing to the faces of each cutter a flat plate which is subsequently removed. Water is supplied by a pipe 64 and the work is supported by a table 48. Gauges 50 of various forms are removably mounted on the bracket. A guard 50 prevents excessive turning of the workpiece.
