Abstract

306,448. Geigy Soc. Anon., J. R. Feb. 20, 1928, [Convention date]. Disazo dyes for mordant dyeing are made by coupling a diazotized aminosulphonic acid of the benzene or naphthalene series (but without mordant dyeing groups) with a-naphthylamine or its 6- or 7-sulphonic acid, rediazotizing the aminoazo compound thus formed and coupling with an .aromatic o-hydroxycarboxylic acid of the benzene series. The chromium compounds may be used for printing. According to examples, the following dyestuffs are prepared ;-(1) 1 : 5-naphthylamine sulphonic acid # 1: 6-naphthylamine sulphonic acid # salicylic acid; (2) 1-naphthylamine-4: 7-disulphonic acid # 1 : 7-naphthylamine sulphonic acid # salicylic acid; and (3) 1-naphthylamine-4: 7-disulphonic acid # anaphthylamine # salicylic acid (or o- or mcresotinic acid). The first two dyestuffs give fast brown chromium prints. Specifications 8299/89 and 22641/91 are referred to.
