Abstract

Mordant disazo dyes of the type: sulphonated amine of the benzene series --> an amino-hydroquinonedialkylether --> an o-oxycarboxylic acid of the benzene series are described. When printed on cotton with a chromium mordant they yield fast red-brown to violet-brown shades. In examples, the following dyes are described: (1) 4-chloraniline-3-sulphonic acid, sulphanilic or metanilic acid --> aminohydroquinone dimethyl or diethylether --> salicylic acid; (2) 4-nitroaniline-3-sulphonic acid, or o- or m-nitroaniline-4-sulphonic acid --> aminohydroquinone dimethylether --> salicylic acid (or o- or m-cresotinic acid).
