Blocks acting on drums. - Internal expanding brakes are operated by a cam c slidable transversely of the cam-shaft a in order to equalize the forces exerted on the brake shoes. Retaining means for the cam may comprise rivets g engaging recesses h in the cam or a central rivet engaging a slot in the cam. Springs may bear on each side of this central rivet and in holes in the cam. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 221,635, 225,588, 280,163 and 294,016.
