Bedsteads convertible into seats.-In a convertible chair bedstead of the kind having a central seat portion 6 to the front and rear of which are respectively hinged a swing- over member 7 and a back 8, the three elements 7, 6, 8 are formed as a metal unitary structure for attachment to the chair frame 1, 2, and are continuously wire-sprung from end to end without having any rigid transverse frame members in or near the plane of the wire-springing 15, intermediate of the ends. The transverse members 14 joining the sides of the element 6 are considerably dropped, so as not to interfere with the resilience of the wire mattress. The sides and ends of the mattress frame may be formed of angle iron, and compact folding is made possible by positioning the pivot 11 higher than the pivot 12. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 311,003.
