Abstract
303,709. Braren, L. K. May 17, 1928. Toothed gearing.-In eccentric epicyclic reduction gearing of the type in which the planetary member carries rollers engaging simultaneously with teeth on stationary and driven gear members, the teeth are formed as equidistants to continuous cycloidal curves. The planetary member 22 is secured to a hardened boss 23 carried on bearings 24, 25 on an eccentric part of a shaft 3 splined to the armature or other driving shaft 2. Rollers 28 loose on pins 26 in the member 2 engage simultaneously with teeth 33 on a ring 34 secured to the casing 11 and with teeth 32 on a sleeve 13 secured to the driven shaft 14. The shaft 14 may, however, be stationary and the casing 11 constitute the driven member. The teeth 33, 32 are preferably formed as equidistants to continuous prolate hypotrochoidal and prolate epitrochoidal curves, respectively, and are numerically one greater and one less, respectively, than the number of rollers. The shaft 3 is carried in bearing 5, 6 and the parts 13, 14 in bearings 16, 15. A weight 30 counterbalances the eccentric and the member 22 and is provided with a plate 31 to prevent excessive flow of oil through the bearing 5. The direction of the reduced drive is forward or reverse according as the casing 11 or the shaft 14 constitutes the driven member. In a modification, both sets of teeth 32, 33, while preserving their numerical relation to the number of rollers, are formed upon the external peripheries of the driven and stationary wheels, and two similar rollers co-operating therewith are carried on each pin.
