Toothed gearing. - In double reduction helical gearing employing single helical wheels 3, 10 on the driving and driven shafts 1, 2, the two or m o r e intermediate shafts 6, 7 are carried in - and move axially with bearings 20 - - 23, which may be adjusted axially by hand to balance the loads transmitted by each shaft or, as shown, may be interconnected by a lever 26 pivoted at its centre 28 on the casing 27, so as to adjust the loads automatically.
