Abstract

303,299. Osterberg, G. M. March 5, 1928. Gravity - feed and capillary-action lubricating. -The guide rail 6 of an elevator is supplied with oil from a container 8 mounted on the top of the elevator through a passage 19 in a projection 16, the end 17 of which is channelled so as to embrace the rail, the supply being controlled by a screw 21 extending into the passage 19. The container is adjustably mounted on a bracket secured to a guide shoe. As shown in Fig. 2, a wick 20 extends from the container 8 through the passage 19 into the space between the channelled end 17 and the rail, the screw 21 being adapted to comprise the wick to regulate the feed. In the form shown in Figs. 3, 4, a leather or fibre plate 24, which is recessed at 25 to receive the rail 6, is secured in a recess on the underside of the projection 16 by a flanged metal plate 26 secured to the projection 16 by screws 28, the ends 29 of the plate 24 being raised so as to form an oil chamber 30 above the plate. In this construction, the diameter of the screw 21 is such that the passage 19 may be completely closed.
