Abstract

553,102. Coating threads. COURTAULD'S Ltd., AVERNS, H. M., and BRIGGS, W. Nov. 5, 1941, No. 14252. [Class 140] A small regular quantity of liquid is applied to a travelling thread by passing the thread in contact with a surface supplied with liquid from a reservoir J by means of a capillary tube F the delivery end of which is situated in close proximity to the surface and at a distance below the level of the liquid in the reservoir such that the required head of liquid is obtained. Preferably, an amount of lubricating oil, in amount not exceeding 8 per cent. by weight of a dryspun thread A of cellulose acetate, is applied via a pad E or wick. The head can be adjusted by a screw K. Specification 553,101 is referred to.
