Abstract
302,751. Russell, F. C., (trading as Russell, Newbery, & Co.), and Bradbury, J. H. Oct. 7, 1927. Flexible couplings; securing together machine elements for transmitting rotary motion. - In magneto and like flexible shaft couplings of the kind described in Specification 275,881, wherein the outer member is in two relatively-adjustable parts a, a<2>, the inner member d is modified by the provision of four radial vanes d<1>, and the split member a<2> by the provision of corresponding recesses, a resilient star-shaped sleeve f, preferably of rubber and fibre, being interposed. The vanes d<1> are sloped adjacent the wall of the part a to allow universal movement and are also tapered radially and axially to facilitate assemblage of the sleeve f, which is retained by lips a<4> on the part, a<2>. To increase the flexibility, cavities f<1> are provided in the exterior or interior of the sleeve f or in either or both of the parts a<2>, d.
