Abstract

S i g n s : name and number plates.-A reflector sign receives light on the main reflector B and reflects it on to the stencilled surface C<1>, the letter-forming portions of which reflect the rays again to the eye. The reflector B may be of glass or polished metal with a plain or stippled surface. The stencil is formed by removing parts of the light - absorbing background to reveal an under reflecting surface. Interchangeable stencils mav be used. In a modified construction the angle between the reflector B and stencilled surface C<1> can be varied. Fig. 5 shows letters or a stencil F mounted in front of and at an angle to the surface C<5> so as to stand out therefrom. In such constructions the letters may be of polished metal or like reflecting material, and may be fixed by pushing them into a groove in the lower frame member. Two signs arranged close together may be opened and closed alternatively by simultaneous manipulation of hinged shutters.
