Abstract
302,137. Saunders, S. E., Knowler, H., and Richards, L. J. H. Sept. 15, 1928. Steering.-A rudder-bar a for an aeroplane is adjustable with regard to a fitting h about the pivoted lower end of a vertically-movable pivotpost c by a foot-manipulation of the pilot. The bar a is pivoted at d to the upper bearing f of the pivot post, trunnions g on which engage slots i in the fitting h. The lower bearing l for the post c is pivoted at n, to a link m, which is itself pivoted at o. The cable-arms j on the post c have the cable connections in line with the pivot n. By means of the toe straps b the pilot can raise the bar and post bodily about the pivot o and adjust the trunnions g to a suitable position on the fitting h. The slots i preferably slope towards the pilot, and may be closed by means such as pivoted bars. Rollers e on the rudderbar engage runways on the cock-pit floor.
